Topic - Managing Workplace Anxiety


Anxiety in the workplace can be costly to businesses due to lost productivity and the possibility of related extended absences. In this session, learn more about workplace anxiety and had to best manage it. Objectives for this session are below.

-Explore different types of workplace anxieties

-Learn to recognize symptoms and warning signs

-Determine ways of coping and managing problems

-Recognize common trigger and accelerants

-Learn the difference between anxiety and common nervousness


Presenter – Melvin Scales


Melvin Scales is currently Executive Vice President of Meridian Resources, Inc. He has been in the field of management consulting since 1997. He heads the University Solutions division of Meridian and partners with graduate business school career services team to maximize their effectiveness with students and alumni. He is a nationally recognized contributor to the Talent Management Handbook published by McGraw-Hill. Melvin also held past positions as Assistant Director of Career Services at WFU and Senior Vice President of Right Management, a large career management and outplacement consulting firm. He is heavily involved with many community organizations including Professionals in Transition, Winston-Salem Foundation’s Black Philanthropic Initiative, and Leadership Winston-Salem.
